The historical origin of the Laperm cat breed

It was in The Dalles, Oregon, a US state in 1982. When a cat farm cat named Speedy gave birth to a litter of kittens. One of the kittens was bald, and the large ears were far apart. That cat looks very different as an adult, she has a strange curly coat. So the owner Linda Koehl named it Curly (meaning curly).

And Curly has created her own cat breed by many male cats from breeds like: Manx and Siamese. All kittens are born with curly hair, just like their mother.

Geneticists have identified these cats as distinct from other Rex or curly-haired breeds. They were named the LaPerm breed and recognized by TICA in 2002, and the CFA also recognized the breed.

The head of this cat is wedge-shaped, the nose and mouth are short, and the whiskers are curled. With almond-shaped eyes, rather large ears and a long tail with a lot of fluff.
