The stone tied to the animal's leg was as large as its body size. The dog must have struggled for hours in the cold water to get its muzzle out of the river.

Recently, a Belgian Shepherd was narrowly saved after suffering a horrifying experience intentionally caused by her owner.

Jane Harper was walking down the street with friends when she suddenly noticed something sticking out of the water of the River Trent in Farndon, Nottinghamshire, England. After realizing that what was submerged in the water was the head of a dog, Jane did not hesitate to dangerously wade into the river in cold weather to save the animal.

She approached the dog and tried to pull it to shore but was unable to. Jane said: "The water was very turbid, I tried but still couldn't pull the dog. I noticed there was a rope wrapped around his leg, connected to something quite heavy that was sinking underneath. I I had to put my whole arm up to support the dog and struggled to lift it up."

Jane had to use all her strength to lift the dog ashore.

The dog lay motionless from cold and exhaustion.

After bringing the dog ashore, Jane realized that the weight tied to its leg was a rather large rock. The animal almost lost consciousness at this point. At first, Jane thought it was dead until the poor animal tried to blink.

After giving first aid, Jane took the animal in distress to the veterinarian for care and treatment. The poor dog's savior shared: "It must have taken a lot of effort to get its head out of the water. I don't know how long it was down there but I think if it's a little bit late then it won't make it." Jane and friends also expressed outrage at the reprehensible act of the person who threw his livestock into the river with a heavy stone.

The stone tied to the dog's leg was as big as the animal's body.

Police were fortunate to find a chip attached to the animal since 2010 and identify the dog's identity as well as its owner. Accordingly, this Belgian shepherd dog is named Bella. However, its current name has probably been changed. They also arrested a 31- and 32-year-old couple believed to be Bella's owners on suspicion of petty crimes.

An officer from Nottinghamshire Police said they were still investigating the incident and urged people in the area to provide more information if available. They also did not forget to praise Jane's actions when she promptly rescued the poor animal.

Bella is currently in a rather weak condition, however, she has also shown some signs of improvement such as eating and receiving treatment.
