New discoveries about animals

There are pets that are potentially dangerous to humans. The animal world is a world with countless different colors. There are many species of animals we have never known and there are also many species that are known but still contain many mysteries. Humans themselves are only one of many animals, but we have evolved to a higher level and have the ability to study other animals. There are many species that have been domesticated by humans and become pets. But do we know all about them, about their potential dangers, about rare domestic animals or how their ancestors went extinct. This article would like to talk about some interesting things about some species of pets. Although it is only a small part of the many interesting things, I hope that readers will also have more understanding for themselves.

1. Dangerous farmed frogs

New discoveries about animals

Until now, frogs are still considered by us as one of the most harmless species in the world. We still often use them as food, pets and sometimes a lovely model for a certain cartoon. However, this is not the case for some species of frogs that inhabit tropical rainforest areas. Among these poisonous species is the Pacman frog - one of the lovely-looking frogs, a pretty "hot" pet. This species hides a potential danger that we should pay special attention to if we fall in love with it and bring it home.

The correct name of this frog is Ceratophrys ornata, and it is also called the Argentine horned frog. It is voracious, it will try to swallow anything that moves near its wide mouth, such as insects, rodents, lizards and frogs. The most striking feature of this frog is its mouth, which is about half its overall size. Common colors are bright green with patches of red or dark green. These frogs are known for their courage, which can inflict terrifying injuries with their sharp teeth. Even in South America it is said that this species can kill grazing horses.

2. Wild horses are almost extinct

New discoveries about animals

Horses can be considered very familiar to us. Extinction??? This may sound absurd, but it is true that now we have mostly domesticated horses to keep. Horses have many subspecies and some horse species such as the Tarpan horse have gradually gone extinct. The last Tarpan in the world died during a race in Ukraine in 1876. Many other wild horse breeds also fell into the same situation. In general, most of the horses in the world now are purebred horses and live in captivity.

Over thousands of years, the loss of this species has occurred in many other species. Environmental influences also play a part, but the main reason is still the way humans treat nature. In the case of the Tarpan horse, the main cause of this species' extinction is the habit of clearing forests for timber for housing and farmers killing them because they often destroy crops.

3. Parrots are disease carriers

New discoveries about animals

Parrots are one of the most commonly kept birds. There are many different species of parrots. And the reason people love parrots is their good interaction with humans. Unlike many other birds that only sing and are quite passive, parrots can even learn to speak and have quite "wise" expressions.

The most popular parrot species is the "budgie" from Australia - a small parrot with long tails. However, this lovely animal also brings dangers such as parrot fever, some viruses ... Germs in their body can easily be transmitted to the owner through the most casual contact.

4. Dogs and cats can make you blind

New discoveries about animals

Dogs and cats are the two most popular pets in the world. We are often very close to them through feeding, playing and training… However, this is also a source of parasitic infection and disease in humans.

There is a parasite called Toxicariosis that is said to be quite dangerous. They live in cat litter. If humans become infected with this parasite, we will face digestive weakness, fever, difficulty breathing and in some cases blindness if not treated properly. The reason is that this species seriously damages the human retina. According to reports, there are thousands of cases of Toxicariosis infection from cats and dogs in the US. The advice for dog and cat owners to avoid the risk is to diligently wash your hands after coming into contact with them.

5. Hummingbirds are pets too

New discoveries about animals

There are many species of birds that are commonly kept as pets. Typical examples can be mentioned: sparrows, canaries, parrots... However, perhaps many people will be surprised to know that some people also like to keep hummingbirds - a bird that specializes in sucking nectar.

And the problem is that everyone knows that this bird is very difficult to keep as a pet. For those with this "unique" hobby, they must have their own equipment and methods. Bird cages are equipped with honey instead of normal food or protein powder, and can be decorated with some kind of flower to create a feeling of closeness. Some hummingbirds can flap their wings more than 50 times per second. Hummingbird owners need to understand that hummingbirds have very small bodies, very fast wing beats, and very high body temperatures. This means that hummingbirds need a lot of energy from food sources. Once these hummingbirds lack food, they immediately lethargic, beating their wings more slowly to save the little remaining energy in their bodies.
